Welcome to A1 Musical Theatre, a children's musical theatre program, based out of the San Gabriel Valley, founded by passionate homeschool moms who recognized a need in our community!
Our Story
Our mission is simple: to bring God glory in all we do while providing homeschoolers with a platform to showcase their talents. We believe that singing, acting, and dancing are gifts from God, and with commitment and hard work, these talents can flourish. At Audience of One (A1) Musical Theatre, we express these talents by striving to put on quality shows while leaving the "drama" where it belongs—on the stage.
We cast based on the unique gifts and talents that God has bestowed upon each child. Whether your child is a dancer, singer, actor, or a triple threat, everyone is given the opportunity to shine in a way that highlights their abilities to the fullest.
Our core values—patience, honesty, transparency, love, and excellence—guide everything we do. While we may perform junior versions of secular Broadway shows, we understand that the core need of each child extends far beyond simply having a space to perform.
With an eternal perspective, our main goal is to point each child to Christ and their need for Him. The gospel is at the heart of all we do. While we love putting on a good show, our ultimate aim is to lovingly demonstrate to each child that giving glory to God is the very reason for our existence.

Meet Our Team
Rebekah Mackie
Artistic Director
Rebekah is a pastor’s wife and mother of five. She received her B.A. in liberal studies from Azusa Pacific University. After teaching in the traditional classroom setting, she began teaching her own children at home. She has also taught Art History, Classical History, Choir, Public Speaking, and Musical Theatre to children in churches and homeschool co-ops. Rebekah has been directing children’s theatre productions on and off for the last 25 years, and her passion is to teach children to give glory to God in all they do, even when on the stage.
Riley Mackie
Music Director
Riley is so excited to be a part of the A1 team as the Music Director. She is a homeschool graduate and later graduated in 2021 from The Master’s University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Business. Riley has been in hundreds of musicals, concerts, recitals, and performances all over the country, including places like Washington DC and Carnegie hall, but children’s theatre is where she began and is her truest musical love. When asked what she wanted to do after graduating she confidently said “have a children’s theatre” and she is beyond thankful to be living that dream. She loves Jesus with her whole heart, is a career nanny and voice teacher, and is passionate about all things home - homestead, homeschool, homemade, home birth, home grown.
Claire Scotti
Producer/ Administrative Director
Claire is a wife, homeschool mom of two, and co-director of a local homeschool co-op. With years of experience in backstage management for musical theater productions, she has loved bringing her experience to A1 team. One of her greatest joys has been watching her daughter and the kids of A1 shine from the wings.
She is honored to serve as A1’s Producer and Administrative Director. Claire has a deep love for children’s theater and a passion for helping students steward their God-given talents to make a meaningful impact on their families and communities.
Caleb Mackie
Acting Director
Caleb is an Assistant Store Manager for Starbucks and currently working towards becoming a Store Manager. His long term goal is to one day open his own business. Caleb also coaches football and has coached 3 championship teams in the last two years. Caleb has been doing Musical Theatre for most of his life. Some of his favorite roles he has played include; Marius in Les Mis, Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, and The Beast in Beauty and the Beast. Caleb has taken several acting classes throughout his life and always loved the concept of developing characters in order to maximize the emotional connection an actor feels to their character, which is why he is so excited to help the cast of Annie do just that.
Jennifer Pacheco
Production Assistant
Jen is excited to be part of the A1 team as the Production Assistant. She is a loving wife, and proud mother of two sweet, energetic boys. Her life revolves around her faith, family, and her active involvement in the homeschooling community. As co-director of a local homeschool support group, Jen plays an active role in supporting fellow homeschooling families in her community and is dedicated to fostering a supportive learning environment as she also teaches classes at a local homeschool co-op.
With five years of experience in organizing volunteer efforts for theater parents and managing backstage dressing rooms for local Children’s theater productions, she loves being a part of the show coming together, relishing in the magic of the theater that enriches the lives of young performers and brings the homeschooling community closer together. Her unwavering love for Jesus is the foundation of her life, which she shares with her family, making their bond even stronger. Her heart for Jesus, Children's theater, homeschooling, and her genuine affection for people are the cornerstones of her life's passions.
RJ & Arselene Hemenway
Set Design / Production
RJ and Arselene are excited to join the production team at A1 Musical Theatre and to be part of a community that pours into young performers and families. They stepped into this season out of their shared love of building, creating, and working side by side as a husband-and-wife team.
Together they run a family creative business where they design and build custom scenic pieces and immersive environments. RJ studied architecture and engineering and served in the military, experiences that shaped his love for structure, craftsmanship, and bringing big ideas to life. He especially enjoys creating stage spaces that make kids feel proud and excited to perform.
Arselene is a devoted homeschool mom who loves supporting the homeschool community and creating meaningful experiences for children. She has a gift for organization and encouragement and enjoys helping everything come together behind the scenes. Most of all, she loves creating alongside RJ and seeing young performers grow.
As a family, they are thankful for the opportunity to create, serve, and support the students and families of A1 Musical Theatre.
